The court clerk will bring your petition to a judge for review.

If the judge believes you or your child are in serious and immediate danger, s/he will give you a temporary protection order which is good until your full court hearing. It usually lasts 21 days. If you receive this order, keep a copy with you at all times. You will get a date for a court hearing, usually within 21 days. This hearing will be in front of a judge. At this hearing, both parties will have a chance to explain their side to the judge.
