A temporary protection or “ex parte” order is a judge-issued directive that prevents the adverse party from causing or threatening harm.
It last 21 days. Once the judge receives your petition, s/he will issue a temporary order only if there is immediate and present danger of abuse to your or your minor child(ren).

It lasts until the hearing. If the hearing is delayed, the judge may extend the temporary order until the next hearing.
